As part of immigration and citizenship application procedures, the Canadian federal government requires proof of language proficiency in French.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has recognized the TEF for these procedures since 2002. The appropriate TEF format for this is TEF Canada.

For who ?

e-TEF Canada is an obligatory test for economic immigration programmes that require proof of linguistic ability, at the request of Immigration and Citizenship Canada.

e-TEF Canada also provides indispensable proof of the holder’s French language proficiency when he/she applies for Canadian Citizenship.

What is tested ?
TEF Canada assesses your ability to write and speak French, using the following sections:

Oral comprehension: 40 minutes – 60 questions
Written comprehension: 60 minutes – 50 questions
Oral expression: 15 minutes – 2 topics
Written expression: 60 minutes – 2 topics
